A Truckload of Boards!
Since 2010 we’ve given away thousands of boards to kids around the world. We’ve been blessed to work with numerous companies including Penny, Z Flex, Zero, Zap, and many others and through the help of their generosity we plan to continue to give away thousands of boards in the years to come. Surfboards, however, have been one of the hardest items for us to get donated. With such a high cost to produce and generally with minimal damaged inventory, finding companies willing to give away surfboards has been really difficult.
Well, until recently.
We had met a company based out of the west coast, at the Surf Expo in January - Marko Foam. After sharing with them a bit about what we do and the need for some more boards, they were excited to get on board…literally! We’ve been emailing with the owners for a few months now and we’re excited to share that a few months ago they reached out to let us know they had several pallet loads of boards ready to ship out - 86 surfboards in total! We had also received a recent donation of 20 surfboards from Penny Surf and we’re so stoked to begin distributing these boards to ministry partners all around the world.
Earlier this year we started a program called “Surf Church” and the response has been incredible. Our hope in 2021/2022 is to use these boards to help launch ten international surf clubs that will be centered around building relationships with kids through surfing with the goal of sharing the gospel and discipling those involved!
As you can imagine, the cost to ship so many boards was pretty expensive and we had to hire a private freight carrier to get these boards to us. Not to mention the additional storage space we’ve had to find to stack up over 100 boards and the cost we’ll have to pay to get them overseas, costing approximately anywhere from $25-50 per board - while these boards are a HUGE blessing, there is some responsibility involved in bringing this vision to completion.
We are currently seeking 50 individuals that would be willing to donate $107 each to help us cover the cost of the shipping, storage, and distribution of these surfboards. This is a one time fundraising goal that has the potential to impact hundreds and maybe thousands of kid’s lives long term!
