THE STORY

Shortly after relocating our headquarters to downtown Fort Myers, we discovered DHOP (Downtown House of Pizza). Just a short skate from our offices and for under $5 bucks you can get a slice of pizza and a drink, you could say it was love at first bite. One afternoon while skating down to grab lunch, we had a lightbulb moment….”What if we hosted a skate video contest where we invited our local skate community to film a series of tricks in a line on their way from “our shop” to DHOP”…(hints the name!). We sat on the idea for a bit, but with multiple street spots in the few blocks between our two locations and the desire to stir up some local creativity we decided to PUSH the idea (PUN intended). This August, we’re stoked to bring you the first (and hopefully annual) SHOP TO DHOP video edit contest!

THE DETAILS

EVERYONE is encouraged to get involved. We’ll be judging EQUALLY between creativity, difficulty of tricks, and use of the city and skate spots in between the two locations….so even if you’re new to skating, you still have a chance to win.

You have until Saturday August 22nd to submit your video. Video details and rules are listed below.

PREMIER NIGHT: On Saturday - August 29th from 6:00-8:00PM we’ll be premiering the videos at The House of Ride Nature and we are stoked to share that DHOP will be sponsoring the evening with FREE PIZZA for those that come out.

Our judges will announce at the end of the night the winning videos as well as the best trick submitted and the winners will get a prize pack of some House of Ride Nature apparel, skate gear, and some gift cards to DHOP to keep you pushing!

Addresses are listed below for both locations as well as logos if you want to rack up some bonus points by using those in your submitted videos. Make sure to read the rules thoroughly before you start filming and we hope to see you at the premier! Now go stack some clips and stay safe!

THE RULES

Each participant can only submit 1 video! We’re not trying to watch 6 different edits of one person!
Videos must be at least 1 minute but no longer than 2 minutes.
No more than 4 individuals or skaters can be in one video.
All clips must be filmed in downtown Fort Myers.
Video must start at The House of Ride Nature and END at Downtown House of Pizza.
The video does not have to be filmed/edited in ONE take or in one long line. It can be spliced and cut together however you like.
Music used in your video must be clean and free of any profanity.
Videos will be judged on creativity, difficulty of tricks, and use of the city and spots downtown between the SHOP and DHOP.
Videos must be submitted by Saturday - August 22nd. Video links via google drive, drop box, or we-transfer can be emailed to derek@ridenature.com. If you would prefer to drop off a flash drive that can be done any time on Saturday at The House of Ride Nature.
